- 8 ounces plain flour
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 12 ounces margarine
- 1 ounce caster sugar
- 1 -1 12 ounce sultanas or 1 -1 12 ounce currants
- bare 1/4 pint milk
Directions

1Sieve together flour, salt, soda and cream of tartar into a bowl.

2Rub in margarine.

3Add sugar, sultanas (or currants)

4Mix to a soft but not sticky dough, with as much milk as necessary.

5it could leave a tablespoon of milk, Knead lightly until smooth.

6Roll out 1/2 inch thick, cut into 2 1/2 inch rounds.

7Bake on greased tray at Gas 7/425F above centre of oven, about 12 minutes.
