Ingredients

  • 1 lb. candied cherries
  • 1 lb. candied pineapple
  • 1/2 lb. raisins
  • 6 c. pecans
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. soda in 3 Tbsp. sweet milk
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 4 oz. fruit juice (I use orange juice)

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add egg yolks.

    Sift 2 cups flour with spices.

    Add alternately with milk and juice.

    Mix 1 cup flour with cut up fruit.

    Add beaten egg whites, then add fruit. Drop on greased cookie sheet.

    Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in 325° oven.

    Do not overcook.

    These should be soft.

    Makes about 16 dozen.
