  • 1/2 lb. yellow candied pineapple
  • 1/2 lb. red candied cherries, chopped
  • 1/2 lb. green candied cherries, chopped
  • 2 1/2 c. chopped seedless dates
  • 4 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, divided
  • 1/4 c. margarine or butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 c. strawberry jelly
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice (powdered)
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon (powdered)
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves (powdered)
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Directions

    Combine first five ingredients and dredge in 3/4 cup flour, mixing well.

    Set aside.

    Cream butter or margarine in large bowl; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of mixer.

    Add eggs and jelly, mixing well.

    Dissolve soda in milk; add to creamed mixture.

    Add remaining 3/4 cup flour and spices; mix well.

    Fold nut and fruit mixture into batter.

    Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet.

    Bake at 325° for 12 minutes or until done.

    Cool on wire racks.
