Ingredients

  • 250 g (1 1/4 c.) butter
  • 250 g (1 1/2 c.) sugar
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 500 g (4 1/4 c.) flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. soda, into 1/2 c. sour cream
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 250 g (2 1/2 c.) raisins
  • 1 c. citron peel
  • 250 g (1 c.) lemon peel

Directions

    Cream the butter and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time.

    Beat well. Add flour sifted with baking powder alternately with buttermilk. Add remaining ingredients.

    Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into batter last.

    Place in 2 greased loaf pans and bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
