- 2 c. sugar
- 2/3 c. milk
- 1/3 c. cocoa
- 2 Tbsp. corn syrup (light)
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. nuts, if desired
Directions

1Butter loaf pan 9 x 5 x 3-inches.

2Combine sugar, milk, cocoa, corn syrup and salt in 2-quart saucepan.

3Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until cocoa is melted and sugar dissolved. Let boil for 4 to 5 minutes.

4Remove from heat; add butter.

5Let cool for a few minutes.

6Add vanilla.

7Beat vigorously and continuously 5 to 10 minutes with wooden spoon until candy is thick and no longer glossy.

8Quickly stir in nuts.

9Spread mixture in buttered pan.

10Let cool before cutting into squares.
