  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 c. water
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Sift together flour and sugar. In a saucepan, bring butter, shortening, water and cocoa to a boil. Pour over sifted flour and sugar while it is hot. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda and vanilla. Bake in large pan at 400° for 20 minutes.
