   Start making cake according to recipe up to the point where you place the pineapple slices in the brown sugar.

   At this point, after you place the rings, place 1 or more garlic cloves in the center of and in between each ring.

   If your recipe calls for cherries simply omit.

   Finish cake according to recipe.
