German Chocolate Pie

- 2 Tbsp. cocoa
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 2/3 c. evaporated milk (14 oz. can)
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
- 1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
- Cool Whip (optional)
Directions

1Melt butter and cocoa together in a large saucepan.

2Turn off heat; add sugar and eggs.

3Mix together; add cornstarch and mix. Add vanilla and milk.

4Stir together.

5Cook over medium heat, stirring with a spatula because it sticks and burns easily once it starts thickening.

6Stir constantly.

7When thickened, pour in pie shell.

8Add nuts before pouring, if desired.

9Garnish with Cool Whip before serving.
