Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1 3/4 c. water, divided
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1/2 c. broken gingersnaps
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. raisins
  • 2 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
  • cooked noodles

Directions

    Combine beef, egg, crumbs, 1/4 cup water, onion, salt and pepper.

    Shape into 1 1/2-inch balls.

    Set aside.

    In large skillet bring remaining water to a boil.

    Add bouillon, sugar, raisins, lemon juice and gingersnaps.

    Stir thoroughly.

    Add meatballs to skillet.

    Simmer until cooked, about 20 minutes. Serve with noodles.
