- 3 Tbsp. lard or bacon drippings
- 6 c. shredded red cabbage
- 2 medium cooking apples, peeled and chopped
- 1/3 c. finely chopped onion
- 1/4 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/3 c. wine vinegar
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. caraway seed
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Combine all ingredients in 2 1/2-quart glass casserole.

2Cover with glass lid.

3Microwave for 8 minutes on High.

4Stir well and continue cooking for 8 to 9 minutes on High, or until cabbage is tender-crisp.

5Let stand, covered, 2 minutes before serving. Makes about 6 servings.
