- 250 g bengal gram dal
- 12 coconut
- 1 teaspoon cumin seed
- 4 red chilies
- 1 pinch asafetida powder
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- salt
- 50 g vanaspati
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 pinch baking soda
Directions

1Soak the dal in a soda for about 1 hour.

2Boil dal with bay leaves and salt till cooked.

3Make sure it is not fully mashed.

4Cut coconut into small dices and fry in vanaspati till golden brown.

5Prepare a tempering by heating vanaspati in a frying pan and adding cummin seeds, red chilli whole and asafoetida.

6Add this to the dal.

7Add the coconut and sugar and cook for another 2 minutes.

8Serve hot with phulko luch.
