- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 c. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 egg
Directions

1Cream sugar and shortening.

2Add egg and molasses.

3Sift dry ingredients and add to first mixture.

4Chill overnight.

5Form in small balls and roll in sugar.

6Do not press down.

7Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350°.

8Let stand in pan for 30 to 60 seconds.

9For soft cookies, bake 8 minutes.

10For crispier cookies, bake 10 minutes. Cookies will crack on top.

11Makes about 3 dozen.
