- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. baking soda
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. ginger
- 4 2/3 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. baking powder
Directions

1Cream shortening, eggs and sugar.

2Add salt, soda, baking powder, spices, 1/2 of the flour and 1/2 of the molasses.

3Beat well.

4Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

5Roll out on floured board.

6Cut with cookie cutters.

7Bake at 350° for about 12 minutes or until cracks disappear from surface of cookies.

8If moister cookie is desired, bake less time.

9Makes about 40 (2 1/2-inch) cookies.
