Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. oleo
  • 4 Tbsp. dark molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. flour

Directions

    Cream sugar and oleo; add molasses, egg, spices and dry ingredients.

    Do not overbeat.

    Refrigerate.

    Roll into balls. Smash (kid's will love to help!) with bottom of glass dipped in water.

    Bake at 300° for 10 minutes, just until they are chewy. You will have to experiment with your oven and what you like.
