- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ginger
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 2 c. flour
Directions

1Cream sugar and shortening.

2Add egg and molasses; mix well. Add dry ingredients.

3Shape into small balls.

4Roll in sugar and place on cookie sheet 2 1/2 to 3 inches apart.

5Bake for 10 to 12 minutes at 350°.

6Done when well browned and surface has cracked.
