- 1 c. dark brown sugar, packed
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 c. dark molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. vinegar
- 4 c. flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 4 tsp. ginger
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar together.

2Add egg, molasses and vinegar.

3Mix well.

4Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture.

5Drop by teaspoonful on cookie sheet.

6Flatten as thin as you can.

7Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 350°.

8Cool slightly and remove to rack.
