  • 1 cup white sugar + extra to roll the dough balls in
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl combine the first four ingredients (sugar, butter, egg, molasses) and mix well. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Shape dough into balls, roll in sugar and bake for 8-10 minutes.
