  • canola oil (2/3 c. for crisp cookies or 1/3 c. oil and 1/3 c. whipped butter for moist cookies)
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 4 Tbsp. molasses
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. powdered ginger
  • approximately 1/4 c. sugar (for dipping)
  • 1/2 tsp. powdered cloves (optional)

    Preheat oven to 350°. Mix oil and 3/4 cup sugar thoroughly. Add egg and beat well.
