- 2 1/2 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. soda
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 c. molasses
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 c. hot water
Directions

1Sift together dry ingredients, except sugar.

2Cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy.

3Add egg and molasses to butter; blend.

4Stir into dry ingredients.

5Pour hot water in.

6Beat until smooth.

7Bake in greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan at 350° for 35 minutes.
