Ingredients
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/8 tsp. ground allspice
- 3 Tbsp. vegetable shortening
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1/4 c. boiling water
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Spray an 8 x 4-inch loaf pan with spray.

3In medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt and spices; set aside.

4In a large bowl with mixer at medium speed, cream the shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

5Beat in molasses and boiling water.

6Stir in dry ingredients until moistened.

7Pour batter into pan.

8Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

9Cool in pan on wire rack about 10 minutes.

10Remove from pan and cool completely on rack.
