- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. molasses
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. allspice
- 2 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1 cup boiling water
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 2 eggs
Directions

1Mix together sugar, molasses, butter, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, ginger, soda and water.

2Add flour and mix well.

3Add eggs, beaten.

4Mix.

5Pour into greased and floured 9 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.

6Test with toothpick.

7Done when pick comes out dry.

8Do not overbake.
