- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. light molasses
- 5 Tbsp. butter, melted
- 2/3 c. cold water
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- whipped cream
Directions

1Combine egg, sugar, molasses, butter and water; mix well.

2In large bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, ginger and salt. Add molasses mixture.

3Beat until well mixed.

4Pour into a greased 8-inch square baking pan.

5Bake at 350° for 30 minutes, or until cake tests done.

6Serve warm with whipped cream.
