- 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. margarine, softened
- 3/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. molasses
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Grease 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.

3In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, cloves and salt.

4Stir in margarine, water and molasses until well blended.

5Pour into pan.

6Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean.

7Cool slightly on cake rack.
