- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 c. shortening or butter
- 1/3 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 3/4 c. light molasses
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1/2 tsp. soda
Directions

1Sift flour; measure and resift 3 times with next 4 ingredients.

2Cream shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy.

3Add molasses; beat well.

4Add eggs and beat until fluffy.

5Add flour mixture; beat until smooth.

6Pour into 8-inch square pan or 7 x 11 1/2-inch oblong pan.

7Bake at 350° for 35 minutes.

8Serve with whipped cream.
