- 1-1/4 cups flour
- 3/4 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
Directions

1Heat oven to 350F.

2Combine flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and spices.

3Mix molasses and water until blended.

4Beat shortening in large bowl with mixer until creamy.

5Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.

6Blend in egg.

7Add flour mixture alternately with molasses mixture, beating well after each addition.

8Pour into 8-inch square pan sprayed with cooking spray.

9Bake 35 min.

10or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

11Cool slightly.
