- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. light molasses
- 1 egg
- 1/4 tsp. cloves
- 2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. ginger
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Directions

1Mix shortening and sugars, then stir in molasses and egg.

2Add dry ingredients and mix well.

3Form dough into 1 1/4-inch diameter balls.

4Roll balls in sugar and bake at 350° for approximately 12 minutes, depending on whether you like the cookies crunchy or chewy.
