- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 tsp. ginger
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
Directions

1Turn oven to 375°.

2Sift and measure 2 cups of flour.

3Sift together the flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, ginger and ground cloves.

4Measure shortening; place in another bowl and beat.

5Add 1 cup sugar to shortening and beat until fluffy.

6Add egg and molasses and beat.
-
7Add sifted flour mixture and mix together. Make balls of dough and roll in some sugar.

8Bake for 15 minutes.
