  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • granulated sugar

Directions

    Cream shortening. Add sugar; beat in egg and molasses. Mix all dry ingredients; add gradually to first mixture. Mix well. Place in refrigerator for about an hour, even overnight. Form a teaspoon (or tablespoon) of dough into balls. Roll in granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350°. Cool. Place in tightly covered tin.
