- 2 c. flour
- 1 Tbsp. ginger
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. molasses
Directions

1Sift together flour, ginger, soda, cinnamon and salt.

2Cream shortening until soft.

3Beat in egg and molasses and gradually add sugar.

4Sift dry ingredients over creamed mixture; blend well. Form in small balls by rolling them tightly.

5Roll balls in granulated sugar.

6Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 300° for 12 to 15 minutes.

7If less spicy cookie is desired, use only 1 teaspoon ginger.
