  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. molasses
  • 2 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 5 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves, ground

Directions

    Mix all ingredients.

    Chill for 3 hours.

    Pinch off about 2 teaspoons of dough and roll into a ball with hands.

    Press with glass dipped in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet.

    Bake at 350° for about 8 minutes.
