- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. CALUMET Baking Powder
- 5 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 cup plus 2 Tbsp. hot water
Directions

1Mix flour, salt and baking powder in large bowl.

2Cut in shortening with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3Add hot water; stir until well blended.

4Place dough on lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and no longer sticky.

5(Do not overwork the dough or the gorditas will be tough.)

6Divide dough into 12 pieces; flatten each into 5- or 6-inch circle.

7Spray large heavy skillet lightly with cooking spray.

8Heat on medium-high heat.

9Add one or two gorditas; cook 1 to 2 min.

10on each side or until lightly browned on both sides.

11Repeat with remaining gorditas, spraying skillet with additional cooking spray as needed.
