Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. bacon
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1 chopped green pepper
  • 1 c. uncooked rice
  • 1 (1 lb. 3 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 lb. Cheddar cheese
  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions

    In a large skillet, cut bacon into small pieces and cook to crisp stage; drain.

    Add hamburger, stirring until done.

    Add onion, celery, green pepper, rice, tomato sauce plus 1/2 can water.

    With lid on, simmer for approximately 20 minutes, or until rice is done.

    If too dry, add either more water or tomato sauce (to taste).

    Just before serving and while still hot, grate cheese over top.
