  • 4 lb. lean stewing beef, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 1 pkg. dried onion soup mix
  • 1 lb. fresh mushrooms (leave them whole unless very large)
  • fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 c. cream-style sherry

    Preheat oven to 325°.

    Put all ingredients into casserole dish and mix well.

    Cover and bake 3 hours.

    Casserole should go right from oven to table.

    Serve with crusty bread, tossed salad and a good wine.
