Ingredients

  • 4 c. regular oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 c. wheat germ
  • 1/4 c. powdered milk
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 2 c. bran, wheat or oats
  • 1/4 to 1/2 c. vegetable oil
  • 2/3 c. honey
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. sunflower seeds
  • 2 c. nuts, raisins, dates or other dried fruits (in any combination, according to personal preference)

Directions

    Mix the first 6 dry ingredients in a large bowl. Combine and heat vegetable oil, honey and vanilla. Add this to the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Spread mixture on cookie sheet(s). Bake at 250° for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Cool thoroughly. Add sunflower seeds and the preferred combination of dried fruit/nuts.
