Ingredients

  • 7 c. oatmeal
  • 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 c. wheat germ
  • 1 1/2 c. coconut, finely ground
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. slivered almonds or chopped pecans
  • 1/2 c. oil
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar

Directions

    Mix dry ingredients (except brown sugar) together in large pan. Whiz other ingredients in blender.

    Add liquid to dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly.

    Put in large shallow pans and bake at 250°.

    Stir every 15 to 20 minutes to prevent burning.

    Bake until golden brown and crisp, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

    Serve with milk.

    Add fruit, if desired:

    fresh peaches, strawberries or fruit puree.
