  • 2 c. water
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 box raisins
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. gumdrops (small), cut up (not black)

Directions

    Let water, sugar, raisins and soda boil for 5 minutes; cool. Add shortening.

    Let this mixture be completely cool and add flour, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, baking powder, pecans and gumdrops. Place in tube pan, greased and floured.

    Bake 2 1/2 hours in 300° oven.

    Store while hot in box.

    Cover as soon as possible.
