  • 1 1/2 lb. bite size stew meat
  • 2 1/2 sticks margarine
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 2 to 3 onions
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 8 to 16 oz. cold water

Directions

    Melt margarine in Dutch oven.

    Pepper and salt stew meat. Brown meat in margarine.

    Remove stew meat.

    Bring margarine to boil; add the water 2 ounces at a time.

    Cover with a lid after adding water.

    Repeat this step.

    Add bay leaves, cloves, cut and sliced onions and meat.

    Simmer on low heat until meat is tender. Before serving, remove bay leaves and cloves.

    Serve with mashed potatoes.
