- 1 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. white sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 Tbsp. water
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- 2 egg whites
- 1 c. brown sugar
Directions

1Mix first seven ingredients and pat into a well-greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

2Sprinkle with chocolate chips and press them into the mixture.

3Beat egg whites until stiff and then add 1 cup brown sugar.

4Spread this over bottom layer.

5Bake at 325° for 35 minutes.
