Halibut Chowder

  • 3 Tlb butter
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 1.5 cups yams chopped(I do 2.5 cups yams and no turnips)
  • 1 cup turnip
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cans roasted garlic chicken broth
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes(cut the tomatoes)
  • 1.5 cups whole milk
  • .5 cups heavy cream
  • 1.5 lbs halibut
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • pepper Flakes

Directions

    1.In large pot saute onion and garlic in the butter.

    2. Add yams, turnip and chicken broth. Simmer for about ten minutes.

    3.Add tomatoes, milk and cream. Simmer for about another ten minutes or longer. I usually leave this on warming on the stove for about and hour.

    4. Add the halibut 10 minutes before you want to eat.

    5. Sprinkle with cheddar cheese and pepper flakes to taste.(I also add some pepper flakes to the pot as it is simmering to give it a little more flavor)
