- 1 lb. navy beans
- 1/2 c. onions, chopped
- 1 meaty ham bone
- 3 c. water
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Soak beans in water to cover overnight.

2Rinse and put into crock-pot or other pan along with other ingredients.

3Celery and carrots may be added, if desired.

4Simmer 6 to 8 hours in a crock-pot on medium or for a shorter length of time on the stove. When beans are soft, they are done.

5Serve with chopped raw onions and cornbread.
