Ingredients

  • 6 c. sifted plain flour (Pillsbury baking flour)
  • 1 stick butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 c. Crisco oil
  • 1 c. sugar, less 2 Tbsp.
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1 c. hot water or more if needed

Directions

    Combine Crisco, butter, sugar and hot water.

    Stir until sugar is dissolved and butter and Crisco are very soft.

    You may have to heat this mixture to get the butter and Crisco to dissolve.

    Beat eggs in bowl and set aside.

    Stir yeast in warm water in separate bowl; set aside.

    When the butter, oil and sugar are cool, add eggs and yeast; stir.

    Add salt to flour and gradually stir the flour into the mixture.

    Add only enough flour to make it sticky, but not stiff.
