Ingredients

  • 8 oz. pkg. dates, chopped
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 1/3 c. hot water
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 c. white flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 2 egg whites, slightly beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. chopped almonds

Directions

    Put dates and raisins in a bowl with hot water; let set 5 minutes.

    Add remaining ingredients.

    Mix together and bake in a 350° oven for 35 to 40 minutes.

    Makes 2 small loaves. Delicious.
