  • 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 celery rib with leaves, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3 to 5 whole cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
