- 1/4 c. margarine
- 2/3 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 c. walnuts
- 2 1/4 tsp. confectioners sugar
Directions

1In a small saucepan melt margarine; remove from heat.

2Stir in sugar, water and vanilla.

3Stir in flour, cocoa powder and baking powder until well mixed.

4Stir in chopped nuts.

5Spray the bottom only of an 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan with nonstick spray coating.

6Pour batter into pan.

7Bake in a 350° oven about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.

8Cool thoroughly.

9Remove from pan.

10Cut into 16 bars.

11Sprinkle with the powdered sugar.

12Yields 16 (2-ounce) servings.
