  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/3 c. Crisco shortening
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk

Directions

    Heat oven to 475°.

    In a bowl, rub flour and shortening together with hands until mixture looks like meal.

    Add buttermilk and stir until it forms a ball.

    Turn dough onto a floured surface. Knead lightly until dough is no longer sticky.

    Roll out and cut into 16 biscuits.

    Roll dough into 1/4-inch thick if biscuits are to be folded over.

    Bake 8 minutes.
