- 6 large ripe tomatoes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. coarse black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. marjoram
- 1/4 c. finely snipped parsley
- 1/4 c. snipped chives
- 2/3 c. salad oil
- 1/4 c. tarragon vinegar
Directions

1Peel tomatoes.

2Cut crosswise in half.

3Place in deep bowl, sprinkling each layer with seasoning and herbs.

4Combine oil and vinegar.

5Pour over tomatoes, tilting bowl so all tomatoes are covered.

6Cover.

7Chill an hour or so, occasionally spooning dressing over tomatoes.

8Drain off excess dressing and arrange tomato halves on a platter.

9Serves 6.
