  • 6 c. sliced, pared, tart red apples
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie shell
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. soft butter
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 c. sugar

Directions

    Combine apples, 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in bowl. Mix well. Arrange apple mixture in pie shell. Combine flour and 3/4 cup sugar in bowl. Add some cinnamon if desired. Cut in butter with pastry blender or 2 knives until crumbly.

    Sprinkle crumbs over apples. Bake at 400° for 50 minutes or until top is golden brown and apples are tender.
