Ingredients

  • 4 c. milk, scalded
  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. butter
  • 6 eggs, well beaten
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 4 pkg. dry yeast
  • 14 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. lukewarm water

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside.

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs and the rest of the ingredients, except milk. Add as needed.

    Knead until dough is spongy.

    Cover and set in warm place to rise until double.

    Roll out in loaves or round ones.

    Let rise again until double and bake in a 325° oven until done (about 30 to 45 minutes).
