Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine plus 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3 c. rolled oats
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Combine milk, chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons butter.

    Heat over hot water until melted.

    Stir in nuts and 1 tablespoon of vanilla.

    Set aside.

    Cream 1 cup of butter and sugar.

    Stir in remaining ingredients.

    Press 2/3 of mixture in buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Top with chocolate filling.

    Sprinkle remaining oatmeal mixture over top and more chopped nuts, if desired.

    Bake at 350°

    for 25 minutes until golden brown.

    Cut into bars while warm.
