- 1 1/2 c. corn meal
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 c. Crisco oil
- 1 1/4 c. buttermilk
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 Large eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon soda
Directions

1Combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt and soda in medium bowl.

2Add in Large eggs, oil and buttermilk.

3Stir just till ingredients are moistened.

4Pour into heavily oiled skillet 1/4 c. of batter for each hoe cake.

5Fry over medium-high heat 1 or possibly 2 min or possibly till golden on each side.

6Use additional oil if necessary.

7Drain on paper towels.

8Serve immediately.
